Subject specific competences:	The student: becomes familiar with current approaches to infection control in hospitals learns about nurses’ role in pevention and control of nosocomial infections gains undestanding of the theoretical bases of nursing procedures with reference to infection control acquires knowledge and skill in basic hygienic procedures used in nursing care in accordance with professional guidelines becomes familiar with the organization of infection control in hospitals, legislation governing this activity and inspection services in this area gains understanding of the risks of infection in hospitals, other health care institutions and the community (community nursing, home care) becomes familiar with basic methods for gathering and assessing epidemiological data on nosocomial infections learns about cleaning, decontamination, disinfection and sterilization
