The student:

 

  • understanding the difference of illnesses in adults and older adults;
  • understanding the difference between aging and illness in old age;
  • understanding the causal chain for disability in the elderly;
  • ability of solving needs of older patient;
  • understanding critical situations of family members;
  • familiarity with intervention types for family caregivers, including available help of non-profit organizations;
  • awareness of prejudices against old people;
  • knowledge of basic rehabilitation principles and the dynamics of a rehabilitation team;
  • knowledge of physical therapy methods;
  • understanding the specific functioning of persons with motor disorders and special characteristics of their rehabilitation.
  • awareness of the needs of the elderly;
  • management of geriatric syndromes;
  • supporting key persons for older patients;
  • knowledge of the needs of persons with motor disorders;
  • understanding the role of a registered nurse in the process of rehabilitation.
