Subject specific competences:

The student:

  • learns about the symptoms and signs of a patient with an internal disease.
  • learns about risk factors for internal diseases (smoking, drug abuse, occupational exposure, obesity...) and ways of eliminating them.
  • learns about the basic diagnostic tests in internal medicine and is able to perform some of them (measuring blood pressure, ECG, spirometry, PEF, 6-minute walk test).
  • becomes familiar with ways of preparing a patient for diagnostic examinations in internal medicine (endoscopy, puncture, biopsy).
  • learns about the principles of bacteriological diagnostics, including tuberculosis, and is able to take microbiological samples.
  • learns the principles of treatment with inhaled medicines and how to implement it.
  • learns the principles of oxygen treatment and how to implement it.
  • becomes familiar with rehabilitation principles of patients with internal diseases.
  • application of nursing care theories in community nursing;
  • application of work methods in outpatient clinic nursing care;
  • utilization of nursing care procedures with documentation in outpatient care;
  • application of work performance principles to ensure high-quality and effective nursing interventions in outpatient clinics;
  • individual community nursing plans for all treated persons;
  • use of nursing diagnoses in community nursing.
