The student:

  • becomes familiar with the topic of cancer;
  • learns about the development of oncology nursing in specifics of this field of work;
  • gains and understanding of the philosophy behind oncology nursing care;
  • becomes familiar with the main areas of work and the role of nurses caring for cancer patients at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels;
  • becomes familiar with and understands the principles of treatment and nursing care of cancer patients;
  • learns how to plan and implement evidence-based nursing interventions in prevention and reduction of adverse effects of specific oncology care and disease symptoms;
  • learns about and understands the importance of comprehensive cancer patient treatment and the importance of health education programs;
  • learns about the current development trends in oncology and oncology nursing;
  • strengthens the ethical relationship towards patients;
  • is able to apply and integrate theoretical knowledge in oncology nursing and palliative care independently by actively participating in nursing care processes during clinical practice;
  • becomes familiar with nursing documentation for cancer patients;
  • becomes familiar with the basic approaches in palliative care and the role of nursing in a palliative team.
  • the application of theoretical knowledge in implementing nursing interventions while at the same time considering the individual needs of patients, the specific requirements of a given field of work, and the available material facilities;
  • development of necessary skills required for nursing care interventions;
  • establishing the needs for health care education and informing of patients, selecting and applying the correct methodology in health education work;

  • selection and application of relevant evidence to support nursing care interventions;
  • establishing, monitoring, and solving health care issues in cancer patients;
