Subject-specific competences: |
Students:
- obtain and expand the theoretical knowledge they acquired during the academic year and become familiar with nursing work in practice;
- learn about teamwork and the multidisciplinary approach;
- develop a culture of moral ethical attitudes, values and responsibility to the patient, health care professionals and nursing as a profession;
- encourage health promotion, prevention, guidance and teaching in accordance with the development of nursing care for various diseases and injuries;
- develop a capacity for integrated communication, decision making, and effective teamwork;
- develop the knowledge and skills for the implementation of scientific findings into evidence-based practice;
- determine the nursing needs and provide nursing diagnoses (plan nursing care, implement nursing interventions, evaluate and assess the quality of work);
- develop a preparedness for emergencies and critical situations;
- develop clinical skills for postpartum nursing, nursing of children, adolescents and the mentally ill;
- respect the confidentiality of information related to nursing practice.
Knowledge and understanding:
- identify the biological, social, psychological and environmental risk factors that could affect human health;
- gain expertise in planning nursing care;
- acquire the knowledge and skills for implementation of patient-specific nursing, depending on specific areas;
- provide high-quality care to patients through all stages of life;
- follow the quality model protocols and are familiar with evaluation mechanisms and procedures for continuous quality improvement of nursing care;
- identify the conceptual framework of nursing care and its most important theoretical models;
- demonstrate ethical, legal and humanistic behaviour in all procedures of nursing care implementation;
- guarantee the right to privacy while respecting the confidentiality of information related to nursing practice;
- use IT solutions available in healthcare systems;
- clearly communicate, show respect and dedication to teamwork.

Study obligations: |
Students must meet the following conditions:
- present a valid medical certificate for conducting the work of a registered nurse;
- be vaccinated against hepatitis B;
- have a valid student insurance based on Articles 17 and 18 of the Health Care and Health Insurance Act for occupational injuries and diseases when participating in tasks and field work;
- have the required protective clothing, footwear, and special equipment;
- students can perform optional clinical training on specialty areas of nursing within the curriculum for the 3rd year if they successfully complete the mandatory clinical training;
- students must comply with internal legal acts of the Faculty of Health Care Jesenice (FHCJ) for the implementation of mandatory and optional clinical training.

Assessment methods: |
Numerical assessment of optional clinical training (competences being assessed: professional behaviour, communication skills, cooperation, implementation of nursing interventions, documentation of nursing care at the clinical placement, health care counselling).
Students will be awarded ECTS points for conducting the entire optional clinical training, meeting the requirements of the optional clinical training and getting a passing grade.
Student must have successfully passed the subject in order to be admitted into next year’s study program. |
