Dr  Fiona Murphy is Senior Lecturer in the College of Human and Health Sciences, Swansea University, Wales, United Kingdom.

Dr Fiona Murphy  leads the Nursing Research unit within the College and is lead research co-ordinator in the Department of Nursing. She is a member of the Centre for Nursing Innovation which links nursing innovations between the university and the health boards and also sits on a health board research and development committee.

Her current research interests are men and women’s experiences of miscarriage, service evaluation and the education of healthcare practitioners. She has methodological expertise in advanced qualitative methods and experience in systematic reviews and basic quantitative methods. She supervises and examines research theses at both Masters and doctoral level and is an international PhD examiner Department of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Her nursing clinical background is in surgery and gynaecology and her current main teaching focus is nursing theory and research. She is visiting lecturer on the Masters programmes in the Faculty of Health Care, Slovenia - subject Theory and Practice of Nursing.

She is a past member of Sigma Theta tau International.
