Kratek življenjepis

Dr. Urška Dermota se je rodila 4. 10. 1974 na Jesenicah, kjer je kasneje končala tudi osnovno šolo in gimnazijo (naravoslovna matematična smer). Na Biotehniški fakulteti Univerze v Ljubljani, smer Mikrobiologija, je diplomirala 17. 4. 2000, ko je zagovarjala diplomsko delo z naslovom ¨Razširjenost bakterije Clostridium botulinum na Gorenjskem¨. Istega leta se je zaposlila na Zavodu za zdravstveno varstvo Kranj v Laboratoriju za medicinsko mikrobiologijo. Od leta 2003 do 2013 je vodila podenoto Splošna bakteriologija in podenoto Sterilizacija s pomivalnico. Od leta 2014 vodi v Oddelku za medicinsko mikrobiologijo Kranj, Nacionalnega laboratorija za zdravje, okolje in hrano (NLZOH), Laboratorij za nadzorne kužnine in Laboratorij za okužbe sečil ter Enoto sterilizacija s pomivalnico. Je mentorica dijakom srednjih šol, študentom in pripravnikom. Leta 2014 je uspešno zagovarjala doktorsko disertacijo z naslovom ¨Molekularna opredelitev virulenčnih dejavnikov in genotipov proti meticilinu odporne bakterije Staphylococcus aureus domačega okolja na področju Slovenije¨. Kot avtor ali soavtor je objavila številne prispevke (izvirni in kratki znanstveni članki, strokovni članki, priročnik za vaje). Ob rednem delu se ukvarja tudi z raziskovanjem stafilokokov, še posebej z MRSA v domačem okolju (CA-MRSA) in MRSA rejnih živali (LA-MRSA). Na Fakulteti za zdravstvo Angele Boškin sodeluje pri vajah in predmetu Preprečevanje in obvladovanje okužb v zdravstvu z mikrobiologijo v 1. letniku.

 

 


Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Urška Dermota was born on 4 October 1974 in Jesenice, where she later attended and finished primary school and upper secondary school (science and maths programme). She studied Microbiology at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, graduating on 17 April 2000 with a bachelor's thesis entitled Prevalence of Clostridium botulinum in soil of Gorenjska. In the same year, she started working at the Laboratory of Medical Microbiology of the Kranj Public Health Institute. From 2003 to 2013, she was Head of the General Bacteriology Sub-unit and the Sterilisation with Washroom Sub-unit. Since 2014, she has been Head of the Laboratory for Screening Specimens, the Laboratory for Urinary Tract Infections, and the Sterilisation with Washroom Unit at the Kranj Department for Medical Microbiology of the National Laboratory of Health, Environment and Food. She also mentors secondary school students, university students, and interns. In 2014, she successfully defended her doctoral thesis entitled Molecular determination of virulence factors and genotypes among community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in Slovenia. She is the author and co-author of a number of original and short scientific articles, academic articles, and a handbook for practical classes. Alongside regular work, she is also involved in Staphylococcus research, particularly community-associated MRSA (CA-MRSA) and livestock-associated MRSA (LA-MRSA). At the Angela Boškin Faculty of Health Care, she is involved in practical classes and the course Prevention of Healthcare-Associated Infections with Microbiology in Year 1.
