Kratek življenjepis

Dr Angela Kydd is a researcher in gerontology in the School of Health, Nursing and Midwifery at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS). She is a module co-ordinator for the Frailty module at Masters level within the Masters of Nursing Programme at UWS and at the Angela Boškin Faculty of Health Care, where she holds the title of assistant professor. She is currently leading two research projects with international colleagues.

Dr Angela Kydd  teaches on the degree and masters research programmes and contributes to curriculum development within the Older Person’s Agenda Team at UWS. She also has responsibility as director of studies for PhD students and Masters students and runs a Gerontology Interest Group (GIG) which she set up 12 years ago. The GIG is a forum of around 400 practitioners, care staff, researchers, academics, older people and lecturers who meet four times a year to share expertise and good ideas in the care and well being of older people.

Dr Angela Kydd has a keen interest in working with colleagues from International and European Institutions. In 2002 she was iinvited to write a gerontology programme for the World Health Organisation, which was published in 2003. From 2003 to 2007 she was the Project Lead for the Erasmus Intensive Programme, which involved colleagues and students from Turku Polytechnic (Finland) and Linneus University (Sweden). The degree programme was ‘International Issues in Health and Social Care’.

Dr Angela Kydd is a member of Age-Platform Europe and is registered as an expert to assist the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency in the framework of the management of the Community programmes in the fields of education, audiovisual, culture, youth and citizenship for the Erasmus Mundus Programmes. She is currently working with colleagues at Helsinki Metropolia of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Health Care and Nursing and colleagues in Norway at Oslo University College to work collaboratively on developing an Erasmus Intensive Programme. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Institute (STTI), a member of the Qualitative Research Interest Group, Gerontological Society of America and a member of the Gerontological Society of America.

Dr Angela Kydd also is on the editorial board of the Journal of Gerontological Nursing and she is a member of the International Advisory Board for the Reflections on Nursing Leadership Journal.

Dr Angela Kydd has recently written a module suitable for International students, which is the  International Gerontological Nursing module at Masters level. This will be available on-line. She was lead editor and contributor to The Care and Well-being of Older People, a textbbook for nurses published by Reflect Press in 2009.
