Kratek življenjepis

Red. prof. dr. Vesna Zadnik je leta 2001 diplomirala na Medicinski fakulteti v Ljubljani, od leta 2006 je specialistka javnega zdravja in doktorica znanosti s področja epidemiologije. Zaposlena na Onkološkem inštitutu Ljubljana, od leta 2018 je vodja sektorja Epidemiologija in register raka. Na Medicinski fakulteti Univerze v Ljubljani je bila leta 2020 izvoljena v redno profesorico za področje javnega zdravja. Predava dodiplomskim in podiplomskim študentom, strokovni in laični javnosti ter odločevalcem. Je mentorica diplomantom, magistrantom in doktorantom ter od leta 2010 tudi glavna mentorica specializantom javnega zdravja pri Zdravniški zbornici Slovenije.

Na podlagi podatkov Registra raka Republike Slovenije usmerja in izvaja poglobljene epidemiološke raziskave z namenom pojasnitve stanja, tako o zbolevnosti za rakom, časovnih trendih, prostorski razporeditvi, preživetju bolnikov z rakom, uspešnosti presejalnih programov, idr. Sodeluje v številnih domačih in mednarodnih raziskovalnih skupinah in projektih ter izsledke raziskav sistematično predstavlja in objavlja.

Prof. dr. Vesna Zadnik je na Fakulteti za zdravstvo Angele Boškin nosilka predmetov Javno zdravje in potrebe dolgožive družbe ter  Epidemiologija in uvod v demografijo.

Curriculum Vitae

Prof. Vesna Zadnik graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana in 2001, and since 2006 she has been a public health specialist and a doctor of science in the field of epidemiology. Employed at the Oncology Institute Ljubljana, since 2018 she has been the head of the Epidemiology and Cancer Registry sector. In 2020, she was elected a full professor of public health at the Medical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana. She lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students, the professional and lay public, and decision-makers. She is a mentor to graduates, masters and doctoral students, and since 2010 she has also been the main mentor to public health residents at the Medical Chamber of Slovenia.

Based on the data of the population-based Slovenian Cancer Registry, she directs and conducts in-depth epidemiological research in order to clarify the situation, such as cancer incidence, time series, spatial distribution, survival of cancer patients, efficiency of cancer screening programmes, etc. She participates in numerous domestic and international research groups and projects and systematically presents and publishes research results.

Prof. dr. Vesna Zadnik teaches two subjects: Public Health and the Needs of a Long-Lived Society and Epidemiology and Introduction into Demography.
