The Polytechnic has two main objectives. Firstly, we aim to provide high quality professional education which equips students with practical skills needed for employment and enables them to become responsible professionals driving the development of their local, national and European communities. Firmly rooted in Šibenik County, the Polytechnic holds a responsibility for the economic and social development of our community while also benefiting from strong support from the local government. Secondly, our management places great emphasis on integrating the institution into the European educational space, and has introduced internationally recognized norms and standards, such as ISO 9001:2008 and ESG).
Investment in our study programs and human and material resources has led to our institution’s recognition in Croatia and abroad. The Polytechnic is a sought after partner on Erasmus+ projects and has participated in many international exchanges of students and teachers.
The Polytechnic will participate in the Well-ED project with two faculties - Informatics and Nursing. The Faculty of Informatics has been one of the most innovative ones in Croatia. It has introduced modern digital tools and services, facilitating learning and teaching, and increasing the inclusivity of its educational offer by developing open access resources and recognizing informal and non-formal learning. It has also embraced incremental innovation in its curriculum, evolving continuously to align with industry trends and community needs. Emphasizing practical experience, the curriculum includes project work and case studies, created in collaboration with employers. Students are enabled to perform managerial and organizational tasks, to run IT projects, manage informational business systems, plan and work in teams, and organize different IT tasks within a company. Similarly, the Nursing Study Program emphasizes practical skills development, equipping graduates to pursue a regulated profession as general care nurses. The curriculum integrates knowledge from various fields, such as anatomy, physiology, public health and biomedicine, emphasizing the application of professional, ethical and legal principles in nursing care. Students are trained to perform tasks such as to assess patient conditions, plan individualized care, and promote health and well-being within the community. The program enrolls about 200 students and is supported by a team of qualified staff dedicated to providing high-quality education.
The Polytechnic has appointed an ECTS Commission to supervise and approve the allocation of credits to outgoing and incoming students. We have made progress in accepting and awarding ECTS credits for non-formal and informal learning, and are a leading institution in awarding credits and micro-credentials to independent learners. Our ability to adapt to the needs of learners, communities and the labor market makes us suited for projects focused on both formal and non-formal education, extending our impact beyond traditional academic programs.
