The student:

  • Students will gain the general knowledge of basic economics concepts, such as supply, demand, marginal analysis, cost-benefit analysis etc.
  • Student will learn how the basic health care principles affect the basic economic principle, i.e. efficiency.
  • Students will develop the understanding of the role of the public sector and reasons for the public funding and provision of health care.
  • Students will be able to identify the comprising elements of health care systems and understand the role and functioning of coordinating mechanisms that assure their proper alignment.

Assessment methods:

written exam 70% (70 points)
seminar work 30% (30 points)
short test (10 bonus points)

Bonus points are added to examination results if a student obtains at least 50 points on the written exam.
